Moorcroft is made entirely by hand in England for collectors throughout the world.
Every piece of Moorcroft pottery has marks on the base which will tell a story. They identify the designer, the year the piece was made, the year of the design and who painter and tube liner were. Additionally, every piece carries an impressed ‘Moorcroft’ stamp on the base which no other pottery in the world can use.
Uniquely Moorcroft is both cast and decorated before the pots are fired for the first time. A second firing comes after the pot has been dipped in a special glaze. The result is a design made up of deep, rich colours which some say have the qualities of precious stones.
Moorcroft pottery has enriched homes with colour and craftsmanship for more than a hundred years. With its history built on superb artistry, Moorcroft remains strong and vibrant. Its pottery is still made in the original, picturesque Moorcroft factory in Stock-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
In 1904, Moorcroft won its first gold medal, at the St Louis International Exhibition in the United States of America, thereby establishing for itself an international reputation. In 1928, the art pottery was appointed ‘Potters to Her Majesty, The Queen’ – an honour granted by the Queen of England herself and of which Moorcroft was justifiably proud.
With world class designers, the Moorcroft design studio maintains the art pottery’s tradition of excellence and keeps the design moving forwards. Today, Moorcroft is sold in quality stores worldwide, while some old pieces regularly fetch huge prices in major sale rooms on both sides of the Atlantic.
